StandUpPouches Introduces the Side Gusset Pouch
This design was driven by the ability to have a ziplock closure on a pouch that mimics a box or a carton.
Nov 16 2011 --- StandUpPouches.net, a Cleveland, Ohio based company is proud to announce the side gusset stand up bag. Similar to a box or a carton, this stand bag is made with a completely flat bottom yet the side gussets allow the pouch to hold 40% more while using 12% less material, also known as film. Even better, this style of stand up pouch enables a fully-functioning zip lock closure and has five faces, or areas, on which to apply high-end Rotogravure printing, text, and graphics.
Historically, stand up pouches, also known as stand bags or stand up pouch bags, have been constructed with a bottom gusset made from a special sealing technique that formed the area for the pouch to stand on a store shelf. However, by design, the wide face and back of the pouch along with a required ziplock closure restricted how big (or small) a pouch could be made.
“This design was driven by the ability to have a ziplock closure on a pouch that mimics a box or a carton,” said StandUpPouches.net President and CEO David Marinac. “Companies love the cube style and stability of a folding carton, yet they provide little if any barrier protection to keep the contents fresh. In fact, they need an inner liner or bag to contain and provide some protection to the product. Here, they get the best of all worlds, a pouch with incredible barrier properties, a ziplock closure for easy access, and a flat, stable bottom so the pouch can stand erect on a shelf. They are also land fill friendly, recyclable, and allow companies to eliminate the inner liner, which saves them money. Side gusset stand up pouches are perfect for cereal, granola, rice, coffee, tea, chia, flour, flax, protein powder and more.
