CleanPouch debut: Pre-made spouted pouch for aseptic products
Scholle IPN – a global leader in flexible packaging solutions – has announced their successful commercialization of a pre-made, sterilized pouch system for aseptically-processed products. The “CleanPouch” aseptic system includes an innovative spout, plug and cap combination; pouches made within clean room environments; and a small-footprint, high output aseptic rotary filler: the SureFill 100P aseptic.
“We’ve utilized nearly fifty years of aseptic packaging know-how to create this new system. From the outset of design, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, rapid prototyping, and extensive testing through the prototyping phase were keys to development. The knowledge gained from our in-market success with the SureFill line of aseptic bag-in-box packaging has helped prove out our process and gives us the utmost confidence that this system will deliver aseptically-processed products safely, naturally, economically, and sustainably,” says David Bellmore, Director of Technology for Scholle IPN.
The initial installation location for this new system is at Wright Foods, Troy, North Carolina, USA. Wright Foods is an aseptic food processing and co-packing company.
On the topic, John Knapp, Executive Vice President of AmeriQual Group, parent company of Wright Foods, had to say, “Our mission is to exceed customer expectations for product quality and service. As leaders in production of aseptically-processed and packaged products, we are extremely excited to be able to offer our customers a truly-innovative packaging format that fits into the trends we’re all seeing in the marketplace.”
The pouch delivery system has seen increases across a variety of markets in the food and beverage industry. The ability to fill a high capacity of pouches aseptically provides an “answer to the markets call.”
The pouch format is convenient and can have a shelf life of up to 12 months while retaining desirable flavors and textures, as described by Scholl IPN. Aseptic filling ensures sterile products.
Such pouches can be utilized in packaging applications across the dairy, functional drinks, smoothies, and personal care markets, to name a few.
