Fully recyclable: FreshSafe technology from KHS targets juice producers

15 Nov 2018 ---  The German Packaging Law will come into effect on January 1 and place stricter regulations on packaging, especially in regards to recycling and reuse. KHS is offering FreshSafe PET, which coats PET in glass, allowing the typically blended material juice and nectar bottles to be included in the pure PET cycle, to ease the costs that the law may bring to juice and nectar producers.

IKEA launches new strategy to eradicate single-use plastic by 2020

“Fruitful investment” in aseptic filling: 3.5 million by Serbian fruit juice producer

04 Apr 2018 ---  Serbian fruit juice producer, Nectar, is raising the level of its technical equipment and production with the purchase of The Innosept Asbofill 711 C from KHS. The line has a capacity of 12,000 bottles per hour and processes 500-milliliter, 750-milliliter and 1.5-liter PET bottles. This marks the first aseptic filler of its kind in Serbia, and it will increase the production of Nectars products, which range from fruit juice, fruit nectar, iced tea, energy drinks and spirits, and vinegar and preserves.

Sustainable packaging: 100 tons of ocean plastic to be collected by new partnership 

23 Mar 2018 --- Waste Free Oceans (WFO) has announced a partnership with Henkel to remove plastic waste from oceans and rivers – and transform it into over a million bottles used for the Lovables laundry brand. The collaboration is, so far, the largest for WFO, with the agreement that it will run for at least three years. Together, the partners aim to remove enough plastic from rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans to produce 100 tons of usable recycled material each year.

Microplastics: Further research discovers plastics presence in food products

20 Mar 2018 --- A further study has detected the presence of microplastics, originating from textiles used in clothing, carpets and furniture. The fibers, found in the air and in fillets of fish, area 0.25mm to 1mm long, have led the UN Head of Environment, Erik Solheim, to reiterate the call for action against the “Plastic Pandemic.”

WHO to begin immediate microplastic health review

19 Mar 2018 --- The World Health Organization (WHO) will launch a review off the back of last week’s landmark discovery from New Orb Media of plastic particles in water bottles. The research found that 93 percent of bottles, from eleven leading brands, contained microplastics. The WHO review will attempt to gauge how harmful the levels may be for human health.
